What is Estate Administration?

When making an application for probate, whether the deceased made a will and we are applying for a grant of probate or where there is no will and the probate application is for letters of administration, a probate application must be accompanied with the relevant inland revenue forms. The inland revenue forms for probate do vary and the work required for probate can be varied. If you would like to know the average cost of probate then please call to discuss the estate. We only need to know a few basic details in order to give an approximate idea of our fees.

Average Costs of Probate

As mentioned above because the Inland revenue require completion of the relevant probate forms the average cost of probate in the UK can vary. When assessing the cost of probate we have a very fair pricing policy whereby we charge according to the work involved as opposed to a percentage of the estate. If an estate has a house valued at £100,000 then we do not understand how the cost of probate should be higher just because a similar estate has a house worth £200,000. Our average cost of probate would only be higher if there were two houses worth £100k each, this is simply because with two houses the work required in order to complete estate administration for probate would be so much more.

Probate Costs

Not many estates are exactly the same, some people have two bank accounts, others three or four, some have shares, some have a house whereas with other estates there may be no property, therefore because we do not charge a percentage of an estate it is almost impossible to publish our probate costs. If you would like to find out about the costs involved for probate please call us, alternatively by completing our online probate form this will help us to establish and agree a scale of fees, click here for further details.
