What is a Grant of Probate
The Grant of Probate is the actual document issued by HM Court Service. The grant of probate authorises the person named on the Grant the necessary power to deal with the administration of the deceased persons estate. The main grant would have a copy of the original will annexed. This is because the actual original will would become part of the court services public record document. When applying for the grant of probate
the original will would need to be sent to the court service.
