Opening Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.

A total of 4 public offices exist at this address; the Probate Personal Applications Department, General, Seat and Rules Office.

Personal Applications - Is self-explanatory, use this office for any queries related to your application, email, ProbatePersonalApplications@courts.ie

General - This department is responsible for maintaining records and providing copies of documents, you can email them at ProbateGeneralOffice@courts.ie

The following departments do not deal with the general public, therefore, no contact details are provided.

Rules - It is the responsibility of this office to perform searches to ensure that there are no caveats, court motions or other impediments to prevent the grant of representation being issued.

Seat - Deals with applications made by legal representatives of administrators and executors.  If you are a solicitor, use this number + 353 (0)1 888 6708/6171.

Staff at the probate registry are not qualified or permitted to give legal advice, it is recommended you see a professional if any of the following circumstances apply to you;

  • There is no will (intestate death)
  • The estate is liable for inheritance tax
  • You're unsure about your duties or the implications of being an executor/administrator
  • Disputes have arisen between beneficiaries or executors
  • There is a caveat in place
  • You wish to contest a will
  • You wish to alter a will or intestacy
  • You're having problems with the estate administration process after the grant has been issued, this could be with shares, trusts or overseas assets.
