Manchester probate registry is operated by HM Courts and Tribunals Service and deals with district Grant of Representation applications. You can contact the offices for help with the probate process; ordering forms, completing of paperwork, or for information about the required documentation, fees and interviews. You`ll also be able to order extra copies of a grant that's already been issued.
Probate documents are public records and archives can be accessed by members of the public. If you wish to obtain copies of a will or a grant of probate the district registry holds information going back approximately 50 years. If you wish to go back further for genealogical purposes, you'll need to contact the principle registry.

The office is open to the general public from Monday to Friday between 9:30am and 4:00pm. However, it is highly advisable to speak to a member of staff first. You may have to make an appointment, or you could be directed elsewhere.
It is important to note that the registry cannot offer advice and assistance with all your executor/administrator duties. The office is concerned with the processing and verification of your application; they do not handle cases of contentious probate. After the grant has been issued, they cannot help you with matters relating to dealing with finances and assets of the deceased. They are not qualified to give legal help and guidance and for matters related to inheritance tax, they'll probably recommend that you contact the Inland Revenue.
