History
Newstead Village is a small village in Nottinghamshire, England. It is situated between Nottingham and Mansfield in the Borough of Gedling. It is a former mining town. It was previously called Newstead Colliery Village. Lord Byron the poet and notorious hedonist lived at nearby Newstead Abbey. Newstead is part of Nottinghamshire's Hidden Valleys area.
Newstead Village was created as home for workers at the nearby Newstead Colliery. The former mining location has now been redeveloped into a nature reserve and a business park. Hazelford Way industrial estate which stands on the former mine is home to several large companies including Bunches Florapost, Badgemaster and Leivers & Millership.
