History of Sidcup

Sidcup borders the towns of Bexley and Bromley, whilst now part of Greater London, was once referred to as the gateway to Kent.
 
Most of the houses in Sidcup were built circa 1930 however there are lots of parks and open spaces which is a possible indication of large estates which were once in the area.
 
There was once also a large childrens home called the "Hollies", a large forboding building which regrettably has been replaced with a housing estate. A sign of the times maybe....
 
Sidcup also has a major hospital serving the residents of the London Borough of Bexley namely Queen Mary's Hopsital.
