A Deed of Renunciation can be used in circumstance where a person has been appointed as an executor in a deceased's will however does not wish to deal with estate affairs. The executor would then be renouncing probate.
An Executor can only renounce probate if they have not inter meddled into the estate affairs. In these circumstance you will not be able to renounce probate and you are unable to sign a deed of renunciation.
